SUSTAINABILITY
// MISSION //
We design with people and our planet in mind and aim to create high fashion with a low carbon footprint. By paying living wages, using natural textiles, designing zero-waste styles and giving back to the community via exhibitions and donations, we strive to set an example and inspire change within the fashion industry. As of 2020, each collection is made on-demand further reducing waste by creating made-to-order collections and custom couture bridal.

What does zero waste mean? That is a question we used to get a lot! Zero waste means we net zero waste within our atelier throughout our in-house producution processes. As we create small-batch collections or custom garments, we do not through remnants out; rather fabric and supplies are collected, sorted and stored so that we may repurpose, donate or recycle that which is not used. We also pattern in a zero waste method, meaning patterns fit together like a puzzle and all fabric is used; therefore, yielding no waste.

At Ferrah, we like to keep things natural, meaning we work with mostly natural fabrics. If we dye fabric in-house, it is with only natural dyes. When we order fabric, we opt for natural textiles. Natural fabrics have many benefits including compostability, breathability, longevity, and they do not produce micro-plastics in our water supply when washed. As of 2018, we no longer work with animal skins and have never worked with furs as we are a cruelty-free brand. We also now work with Piñatex - a vegan leather made from pineapple skin.

Keeping it the neighborhood matters. Supporting artisans within your own community is essential to Ferrah as it is most crucial now more than ever. We create accessories with a regional Texas manufacturer who expertly crafts our best-selling hats. We also create custom and small-batch designs within our own atelier based in Dallas, TX
